Built in 1980, by Viguerie Trawlers Incorporated of Dulac, Louisiana (hull #9) as the Frenchy for French Marine Incorporated of Chauvin, Louisiana.

In 1985, the tug was acquired by the Red Flag Towing Company of Harvey, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

In 1989, she was acquired by the Genesis Towing Company of Harvey, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Capt. Kent.

Re powered in 1989, she is driven by two Caterpillar 3408 diesel engines. With reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW generator sets. The tug's capacities are 12,000 gallons of fuel oil, and 10,000 gallons of potable water.
