Built in 1992, by Halter Marine, INC. of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #1291) as the Chevron Snohomish for Chevron USA of San Ramon, California.
The tug was later acquired by Dann Ocean Towing of Miami, Florida where she was renamed as the Neptune.
She is a model bow, twin screw ABS Maltese Cross A-1 Towing Service; Maltese Cross AMS certified tug. Powered by two EMD 8-645-E2 diesel main engines with Reintjes WAF 840 reduction gears turning via 8(in) shafts two 90(in) diameter by 66(in) fixed pitch four bladed propellers for a rated 2,400 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two 75 KW generators driven by two 6-71 Detroit Diesels. The tug's capacities are 83,000 gallons of fuel, 225 gallons of hydraulic oil, 1,100 gallons of lube oil, and 5,000 gallons of potable water (supplemented by a water maker).
The towing gear consists of an INTERcon DD175 double drum towing winch with a level wind outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.75(in) primary towing wire, and 2,000(ft) of 1.50(in) as a secondary tow wire. As well as a New England Trawler barge recovery system with and Orville Hook and an Integral Stern Roller with Hydraulic towing pins.
