Built in 1972, by Houma Welders Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #31) as the C.C. Cenac Jr. for the Cenac Towing Company Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana.

In 1983, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the Cody W.

In 1996, she was acquired by Wepfer Marine Incorporated of Memphis, Tennessee. Where the tug was renamed as the Joy Wepfer.

Re powered in 1995, the tug is driven by two, GM 12V-92 diesel engines. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.
