Built in 1999, by Thoma-Sea Boatbuilders Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #116) as the Nutmeg State for the Gateway Towing Company Incorporated of New Haven, Connecticut.

In 1999, the Gateway Towing Company renamed the tug as the C. Angelo.

In 2020, the Gateway Towing Company ceased operating towing vessels. The tug was acquired by an undisclosed interest in the Great Lakes.

She is a twin screw tug, with kort nozzles, rated at 4,000 horsepower.
