Built in 1975, by the Putnam Shipbuilding Incorporated of Palatka, Florida (hull #5) as the Sun Gypsy for Sun State Marine Services Incorporated of Jacksonville, Florida. A subsidy of the Colonial Oil Company of Savannah, Georgia.

In 2002, the tug was acquired by Biblia Incorporated of Savannah, Georgia. Where she was renamed as the Catherine Jewel.

In 2017, she went out of documentation, and the tug was "laid up" at Savannah, Georgia. She was a twin screw towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
