Built in 2016, by the Great Lakes Shipyard Incorporated of Cleveland, Ohio (hull #104) as the San Jose for the Port of Quetzal of Quetzal, Guatemala.
She was the fourth Handy Size class tugboats designed by Jensen Maritime Consultants of Seattle, Washington for the Great Lakes Group of Cleveland, Ohio. The tugs were designed, and built for harbor work, and coastal barge towing.
However, transaction was never finalized, and the tug remained at the Great Lakes Shipyard Incorporated of Cleveland, Ohio.
In 2017, the tug was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where she retained her name.
Powered by two, Tier III compliant Cummins QSK-50 diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG5600 reduction gears. Turning two 72(in) diameter Kaplan propellers, mounted in type 37, stainless steel, lined nozzles. For a rated 3,400 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 65kW generator sets. The units provide the electrical needs while the standard 2,000 Gallons Per Minute fire pumps. Which feed a single, forward deckhouse mounted monitor. Is driven by one of the generators. The tug's capacities are 21,000 gallon of fuel, and 1,800 gallons of water.
The towing gear consists of a single drum, JonRie InterTech towing winch. Mounted on her stern. Driven by a single Kohler diesel engine.
