Built in 1981, by Brice Shipbuilding Incorporated of Chauvin, Louisiana (hull #1) as the the L.J. Broussard for the Canal Barge Company of New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 1994, she was acquired by the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she was renamed as the Alexander Duff. Named for the company president's eldest son, Alexander Duff Hughes.
In 2018, the tug was acquired by Bay Freight Incorporated of Deltaville, Virginia. Where she retained her name.
Powered by two, Cummins diesel engines. She is a square bow, twin screw, push boat. Rated at 1,000 horsepower.
