Built in 1975, by American Gulf Shipbuilding Company of La Rose, Louisiana as the Crimson Tide for Magnolia Marine Incorporated of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

In 1991, the tug was acquired by the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she was renamed as the Charles Hughes.

Named for the Vane Brothers Company Chairman Charles F. Hughes, Jr.

In 2019, she was acquired by the Crofton Diving Corporation of Portsmouth, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Huntsman.

Powered by two, Detroit Diesel diesel engines. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, generator sets. Driven by two, 4-71 Detroit Diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 30,000 gallons of fuel oil, and 3,100 gallons of fresh water.
