Built in 1981, by Fisherman Marine Shipyard Incorporated of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama as the Gulf East I for Gulf Towing and Transportation Incorporated of Panama City, Florida.

Gulf Towing and Transportation Incorporated, later renamed the tug as the Inland Tug III.

In 1983, the tug was acquired by Gulf Eastern Incorporated of Mobile, Alabama. Where she was renamed as the Southern Miss I.

In 1989, she was acquired by Eckstein Marine Service of Jefferson, Louisiana. A division of the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Taylor Marie.

In 1991, the tug was acquired by No Name Towing Incorporated of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Ruby E.

In 2005, she was acquired by the Zito Companies of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Mr. Pete.

Re powered in 2008, she is powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M3 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
