Built in 1964, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #131) as the Fay Blackman for Coastal Towing Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1992, the tug was acquired by the Barge Transport Company Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the William Trent.

In 1997, she was acquired by Martin Gas Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1999, the tug was acquired by the Stapp Towing Company Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Capt. Bruce Stapp.

In 2007, she was acquired by Breathwit Marine Contractors Limited of Dickinson, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Alex B.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by Brown Water Marine Services Incorporated of Ingleside, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Brown Water XII.

Powered by one Caterpillar D379 Diesel engine, and one Guascor 7240 diesel engine. With a Caterpillar, and ZF reduction gear, at a ratio of 4.38:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,295 horsepower.
