Built in 1997 by Fred Wahl Marine Construction at Reedsport, Oregon as the Cross Point (hull #6) for Northland Services Incorporated of Seattle, Washington.

In 2013, Northland Services was acquired by Lynden Incorporated of Seattle, Washington and retained as a subsidiary operation. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2014, Northland Services was merged into the sister Lynden subsidiary, Alaska Marine Lines Incorporated. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2018, the tug was renamed as the Spencer Brewer.

Powered by two Scania diesel engines, models D116 and D113. Turning two Schottel Z-drives, one 40(in) by 45(in) and the other 45(in) by 48(in). For a rated 1,480 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by one Northern Lights generator set and one John Deere SPS 4045 generator set. The tug's capacities are 9,900 gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of lube oil.

The towing equipment consists of a Marco 366 towing winch. Outfitted with 1,800(ft) of 1.5(in) towing wire.
