BEN CANDIES (1983)

Built in 1983, by Swiftships Incorporated of Pass Christian, Mississippi (hull #013) as the Ben Candies for the Otto Candies Company of Des Allemands, Louisiana.

In 1992, the tug was acquired by the Amboy Aggregates Company of South Amboy, New Jersey. Where she was renamed as the Sand Master.

In 2015, she was phased out of service. And, was "laid up" at Mariner's Harbor in Staten Island, New York.

Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, EMD 16-645 E6C diesel engines. Turning two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She was a twin screw tug, rated 6,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service was provided by two 75kW generator sets. The tug's capacities were 72,383 gallons of fuel.
