Built in 1972, by St. Louis Ship of St. Louis, Missouri (hull #2952) as the Robert A. Taft for Midland Enterprises Incorporated of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1995, Midland Enterprises Incorporated renamed the tug as the John D. Geary.

In 2003, the tug was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where she retained her name.

In 2024, the Ingram Barge Company renamed the tug as the Stephanie C. Ingram.

Powered by two, GM 20-645E7B diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.515:1. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 7,200 horsepower.
