Built in 1974, by Twin City Shipyard Incorporated of Saint Paul, Minnesota (hull #147) as the Teal for the Guidry Brothers Towing Company of Galliano, Louisiana.

In 1989, the tug was sold. And, renamed as the Bryan.

In 1993, she was acquired by the Sabine Transportation Company of Port Arthur, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Aurora.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar D398 diesel engines. With Caterpillar reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.89:1. She is a twin screw, towboat. Rated at 1,700 horsepower.
