Built in 2009, by A and B Industries Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #317) as the Captain Robert for Odyssea Marine Incorporated of Berwick, Louisiana.

In 2014, the tug was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Crosby Ram.

In 2019, she was acquired by the Smith Marine Towing Corporation of Morgan City, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Smith Privateer.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3512 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 5600 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.09:1. Turning two stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is twin screw tug, rated 4,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75kW Stamford generator sets. The tug's capacities are 51,000 gallons of fuel, 1,350 gallons of lube oil, 350 gallons of hydraulic oil, and 3,000 gallons of potable water.

The towing equipment consists of a single drum, Markey TDSD 32 WF towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing wire.
