Built in 1975, by Marine Industries Incorporated of Morgan City of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #015) as the Le Cheval Rouge for the Mobil Oil Corporation of New York, New York.

Prior to 1989, the tug was acquired by the Amak Towing Company of Ketchikan, Alaska. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines. Turning two, 94(in) stainless steel, fixed pitch, propellers. For a rated 3,400 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 65kW Northern Lights generator sets. The tug's capacities are 22,000 gallons of fuel, and 5,000 gallons of potable water.

The towing equipment consists of a single drum, SMATCO 44DTS towing winch. As well as 10(in) manual towing pins, a Charl-Lynn bow winch, and a HAP 1040 deck mounted crane.
