Built in 1978, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana as the Big Al for the Alamo Barge Lines Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1997, the tug was acquired by Hollywood Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2007, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, Detroit Diesel Series 60 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, square bow, push boat. Rated at 800 horsepower.
