Built in 1981, by the Greenville Shipbuilding Corporation of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #63) as the Janice P. for Coastal Towing Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed as the City of Plaquemine.

In 1997, the Kirby Corporation renamed the tug as the Wichita.

In 2012, she was acquired by the Danielle Marine Towing Company of Cut Off, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Capt. John Guidry.

In 2018, the tug was acquired by Turn Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the War Emblem.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA38-M0 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.18:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,500 horsepower.
