Built in 1980, by Lake Arthur Shipyard of Lake Arthur, Louisiana (hull #1) as the Miss Shmaine for the Shepard Marine Corporation of Jennings, Louisiana.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by the Higman Barge Lines of Orange, Texas. Where she was renamed as the George H. Thomas.

In 2007, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the San Jacinto.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.
