Built in 1987, by Captain Latham Smith of Green Cove Springs, Florida (hull #1) as the Elsbeth II for the Smith Maritime Ocean Towing and Salvage Company of Palatka, Florida.

In 2022, the tug was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Amelia, Louisiana.

Powered by one, Wartsila 8R22 diesel engine, one Mitsubishi-S16R-MPTA, and one Mitsubishi–S16R-MPTA diesel engine. Turning three, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a triple screw tug, rated at 6,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by four generator sets. The tug's capacities are 110,000 gallons of fuel, 1,800 gallons of lube oil, and 8,000 gallons of potable water. With a 600 gallon per day, desalination plant.

The towing equipment consists of a double drum, Almon Johnson towing winch. Outfitted with 2,200(ft) of 2.25(in) towing wire on the lower drum. And, 1,850(ft) of 2.25(in) towing wire on the upper drum.
