Built in 1992, by Halter Marine Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #1291) as the Chevron Snohomish for the Chevron Shipping Company of San Ramon, California

In 1996, the tug was acquired by the Dann Ocean Towing Company of Tampa, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Neptune.

Powered by two, EMD 8-645-E2 diesel engines. With Reintjes WAF 840 reduction gears. Turning two, 90(in) by 66(in) four bladed, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated 2,400 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75 KW generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 6-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 83,000 gallons of fuel, 225 gallons of hydraulic oil, 1,100 gallons of lube oil, and 5,000 gallons of potable water (supplemented by a water maker).

The towing gear consists of a double drum, INTERcon DD175, towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.75(in) towing wire on the primary drum. And, 2,000(ft) of 1.50(in) towing wire on the secondary drum. As well as a New England Trawler barge recovery system. With an Orville Hook, and an Integrated stern roller, with hydraulic towing pins.
