Built in 1981, by Turn Ship Limited of Coden, Alabama (hull #8) as the Gerard D. for David T. Maddox of Gulf Shores, Alabama.

In 2009, the tug was acquired by Weeks Marine Incorporated of Cranford, New Jersey. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3406B diesel engines. Twin Disc MG-514 C reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.0:1. Turning two, 62(in) by 50(in), fixed pitch, four bladed, bronze propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 3-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 14,000 gallons of fuel, 500 gallons of lube oil, and 4,000 gallons of water.
