Built in 1978 by the Orange Shipbuilding Company Incorporated of Orange, Texas (hull #215) as the Monmouth for the Washington Tug and Barge Company of Seattle, Washington.

In 1980, the Washington Tug and Barge Company was acquired by the Knappton Towboat Company of Astoria, Oregon. Where the tug was renamed as the Washington.

In 1988, the Knappton Towboat Company was rebranded as the Brix Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1993, the tug was acquired by Campbell Towing Company Incorporated of Wrangell, Alaska. Where she was renamed as the Ian C.

In 1998, she was acquired by Westar Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Sagittarian.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA38-M2 Diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
