GULF RAMBLER

Built in 1974, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #400) as the Gulf Rambler for Gulf Fleet Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1978, Gulf Mississippi Marine Incorporated became Gulf Fleet Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1985, Zapata Marine Service, Gulf Fleet Marine Incorporated, and Jackson Marine Services merged to form Zapata Gulf Marine Service Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1992, Zapata Gulf Marine Incorporated merged with Tidewater Marine Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2014, the tug was scrapped. She was powered by two, sixteen cylinder, EMD diesel engines. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 7,000 horsepower. The tug was also outfitted with a 500 horsepower bow thruster. Driven by a single, dedicated, General Motors 12V-71 engine.
