Originally founded in the 1920's by Fred Kosnac. In the 1950's the operation of the company was passed the Kosnac's son Fred Kosnac Jr.
As time passed, operation of the company passed to Fred Kosnac III and his sister June Kosnac.
Although, the company was established utilizing secondhand, or third hand single screw "classic" tugs. The time of single screw vessels faded. And, the industry began to require twin screw tugs for operations in, and around New York Harbor. As well as, in compliance with Coast Guard regulations for handling the principal cargoes, such as oil and other petroleum based products.
In 2010, the company ceased operations and liquidated their assets.
