Built in 1999, by the Bay Shipbuilding Company of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin (hull #743) as the Dorothy Ann for the Interlake Steamship Company of Middleburg Heights, Ohio.

She was "married" to the 700(ft) by 70(ft) by 36(ft) self unloading barge Pathfinder. The barge was a converted straight deck, bulk carrier named the J. L. Mauthe. The steamer was originally constructed in 1953 for the Interlake Steamship Company of Middleburg Heights, Ohio.

In 2012, the tug's original fixed pitch propellers were removed. And she was refitted with two, Rolls Royce z-drive units.

Powered by two, EMD 20-645-E7B diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 7,200 horsepower.
