Built in 1997, by Bollinger Shipyards Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #316) as the Captain Bud for United Tugs Incorporated of Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by KMD Marine Incorporated of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. Where she was renamed as the Marie Clare.

Powered by three, Caterpillar 3412 Diesel engines. With TD MG 530 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, 66(in) by 66(in) stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a triple screw tug, rated at 3,600 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 40kW, generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 4-71 Diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 48,000 gallons of fuel, 1,200 gallons of lube oil, and 10,000 gallons of potable water.

The towing equipment consists of an INTERcon DD 175 towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.75(in) towing wire.
