Built in 2002, by A and B Industries Incorporated of Amelia, Louisiana (hull #306) as the Capt. E.J. for Rainbow Marine Contractors Incorporated of Bourg, Louisiana.
In 2013, the tug was acquired by Gulf Coast Tugs Incorporated of LaRose, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Kendall J. Hebert.
Powered by three, Tier II compliant, Mitsubishi S12A2 diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-522-DC reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:51. Turning two, 63(in) by 55(in), stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a triple screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier II compliant, 50kW, John Deere generator sets. The tug's capacities are 45,000 gallons of fuel, 1,000 gallons of lube oil, 250 gallons of hydraulic oil, and 7,500 gallons of potable water.
The towing equipment consists of a Smatco 48, double drum, "waterfall" towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.75(in) towing wire on the primary drum. And her second drum is available for a suitable suitcase wire.
