
Built in 1982, by Superior Boat Works Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #153) as the Sean L. for Lalande Towing Incorporated of New Iberia, Louisiana.
In 1990, the tug was acquired by Eckstein Marine Services of Jefferson, Louisiana. A division of the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Ray Eckstein.
In 1997, she burned at Columbia, Louisiana in the Ouachita River. The tug was salvaged, and acquired Gnots Reserve Incorporated of Destrehan, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as Koolcat.
She was later acquired by Kindra Lake Towing of Chicago, Illinois, where she retained her name.
In 2022 the assets of Kindra Marine were acquired by Middle River Marine of Mokena, Illinois, where the tug was renamed Macey Lauren .
Re powered in 2006, she is powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M3 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,300 horsepower.
