Built in 1968, by Gulfport Shipbuilding Incorporated of Port Arthur, Texas (hull #706) as the Pamela Wear for the Mid-South Towing Company of Metropolis, Illinois.

In 2002, the Mid-South Towing Company became the TECO Barge Line Incorporated Metropolis, Illinois. Where the tug was renamed as the Marlene Ellis.

In 2012, the tug was acquired by the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

In 2017, she was acquired by Yager Materials Incorporated of Owensboro, Kentucky. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2019, she was acquired by Haydon Materials of Battletown, Kentucky. Where the tug retained her name.

She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,250 horsepower.
