Built in 1971, by Rayco Shipbuilders and Repairs Incorporated of Bourg, Louisiana (hull #21) as the Kerry for Marine Towng Incorporated of Westwego, Louisiana.

In 1991, the tug was acquired by Brown Water Marine Services Incorporated of Ingleside, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Brown Canal.

Re powered in 2006, she is powered by two, Caterpillar C12 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.5:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at at 800 horsepower.
