Built in 1977, by Verret Shipyard Incorporated of Plaquemine, Louisiana (hull #28) as Miss Lennie for the Chandler Marine Company of Baytown, Texas.

In 1984, the tug was acquired by Force Fleet Logistics Incorporated of Gretna, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Force Three.

In 1988, she was acquired by River Runner Enterprises of Kenner, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed Kristie Leigh.

In 1992, the tug was acquired by Gateway Tugs Incorporated of Brownsville, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1998, she was acquired by Marine Fueling Service Incorporated of Port Arthur, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as Mary Lou.

In 2001, the tug was acquired by Brown Water Marine Service Incorporated of Ingleside, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Brown Water VIII.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA19-M diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.17:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
