Built in 1897, by the Union Drydock Company Incorporated of Buffalo, New York (hull #81) as the America for the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1941, the tug was rebuilt by the Great Lakes Towing Company. However, later that year the boat was capsized in the Detroit River in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1982, she was renamed by the Great Lakes Towing Company as the Midway.
In 1982, the Great Lakes Towing Company renamed the tug as the Wisconsin.
In 2021, the Great Lakes Towing Company renamed the tug as the Georgia.
In 1950, she was converted from steam to diesel to propulsion. Powered by one, EMD 12-567ATL diesel engine. With a Falk Reverse reduction gear, at a ratio of 2.5:1 Turning one, 86(in) by 48(in), three bladed, fixed pitch, stainless steel propeller. She is a single screw tug, rated at 1,230 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, Detroit Diesel 2-71 diesel generator set.
