Built in 1912, by the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, Ohio (hull #21) as the Gary for the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, Ohio.

In 1934, the tug was acquired by the C. Reiss Coal Company of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Where she was renamed the Green Bay.

In 1981, she was acquired by the American Towing Company of Buffalo, New York. Where the tug was renamed as the Oneida.

In 1987, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the Iroquois.

In 1990, she was acquired by the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. Where the tug was renamed as the Alaska.

In 1999, the tug was acquired by Florida Marine Terminals Company of Miami, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Grouper. However, the tug was abandoned along the Erie Canal on her delivery voyage, and was placed up for sale at Lyons, New York.

In 2023, the tug was scrapped.

In 1957, the tug was converted to diesel propulsion. She was powered by one, six cylinder, Kahlenberg E-6 diesel engine. She was a single screw tug rated at 700 horsepower.
