Built in 1984, by Nichols Brothers Boatbuilders of Freeland, Washington (hull #69) as the Aku for Crowley Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California.
She was the second River class tug constructed for Crowley Marine Services. Although she was the first River class tug built by the Nichols Brothers Boatbuilders.
Powered by four, Caterpillar 3306-TA diesel engines. Turning four 29.5(in) by 30(in), four bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch, propellers. She is a quadruple screw tug, rated at 860 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW, generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 371 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 13,800 gallons of fuel, and 3,100 gallons of water.
