Built in 1974, by Colberg Boat Works Incorporated of Stockton, California (hull #74-2) as the Toolik River for Crowley Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California.
She was the first River class tug constructed for Crowley Marine Services. And, the first River class tug built by Colberg Boat Works Incorporated.
The tug was designed to run in 3.5 (ft) of water. Because the tug had such a shallow draft and where relatively small. When the seas began to freeze, the company lifted them out of the water, and set them on the bank.
Powered by three, Caterpillar 343 D diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-514 reduction gears, at a ratio of 3:1. Turning three, 44(in) by 29(in), five bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a square bow, triple screw, push boat, rated at 1,095 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 35kW generator sets. Driven by Detroit Diesel diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 11,482 gallons of fuel, 100 gallons of lube oil, and 100 gallons of hydraulic oil.
