Built in 1973, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #287) as the Jock Cenac for the Cenac Towing Company of Houma, Louisiana.
In 1984, the tug was acquired by the Alamo Barge Lines of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Alamo Enterprise.
In 1985, she was acquired by Hollywood Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Enterprise.
In 1999, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.
In 2019, the tug was acquired by Superior Marine Ways Incorporated South Point, Ohio. Where she was renamed as the Capt. Jeff Irby.
Repowered in 2010, the tug is driven by two Cummins K38 diesel engines. With Caterpillar reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.94:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, with kort nozzles, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
