Built in 1981, by Sidney Henry Boat Builders Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #029) as the Mr. Ken for the Beadle's Marine Towing Company of Morgan City, Louisiana.
The tug was later acquired by the Diamond Marine Services Corporation of Morgan City, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.
In 1997, the tug was acquired by Caillou Island Towing Company of Houma, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Charles J. Cenac.
Repowered in 1997, she is powered by two Cummins KTA-19 M. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW Cummins generator sets. The tug's capacities are 14,000 gallons of fuel, and 200 gallons of lube oil, and 5,500 gallons of water.
