Built in 1977 by Henry and Broussard Boat Builders at Morgan City, Louisiana as the Stella G (hull #77-005) for Reeves Marine Service of Houma, Louisiana.
In 1989, the tug was acquired by Pacific Gulf Marine of Gretna, Lousiana. Where she was renamed as the American Sparrow.
Under the ownership of Pacific Gulf Marine, the tug served as one of two bargehandling tugs carried aboard the Lighter Aboard Ship (LASH) vessel American Kestrel.
In 1995, she was acquired by Sause Brothers Incorporated of Coos Bay, Oregon. Where the tug was renamed as the Apache.
In 2016, the tug was acquired by Maxum Petroleum of Rancho Dominguez, California. Where she retained her name.
