Built in 1980, by the Omni Offshore Fabrication Company of Corpus Christi, Texas (hull #120) as the Warren P. DuFrene for D D and S Marine Towing Incorporated of Cut Off, Louisiana.

In 1992, D D and S Marine Towing Incorporated became B and R Towing Incorporated of Sorrento, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the renamed Miss Kim.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by American Tugs Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

Repowered in 2006, she is powered by two Cummins KTA19-M diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.48:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,300 horsepower.
