Built in 1978, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #40) as the Cajun 1 for the Cajun Towing Company Incorporated of Cut Off, Louisiana.

In 1981, the tug was acquired the Allied Towing Service Incorporated of Venice, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

In 1995, she was acquired by Talen's Marine and Fuel LLC. of Jennings, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the C.R. Talen.

In 2013, the tug was acquired by the Martin Midstream Partnership Incorporated of Vidor, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2020, she was acquired by Cedar Bayou Towing LLC. of Baytown, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Ricky G.

Repowered in 1998, she is powered by two, GM 12V-71 diesel engines, with Twin Disc reduction gears. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
