Built in 1971, by Allied Shipyard Incorporated of LaRose, Louisiana as the Mr. Sid for Tug Alamo Incorporated of LaRose, Louisiana. And was operated by United Tugs Incorporated of Larose, Louisiana.

In 1980, the tug was acquired by Central Gulf Towing Incorporated of Cut Off, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2001, she was acquired by Dupre Marine Transportation Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Billy C.

In 2009, the tug was acquired by P and A Marine LLC. of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Miss Ruth.

Powered by two, GM 8V-71 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.5:1. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 600 horsepower.
