Built in 1981, by Balehi Marine Incorporated of Lacombe, Louisiana (hull #41) as the Margaret B. Monteiro for the Aries Boat Company of Houma, Louisiana.

In 1989, the tug was acquired by the Carline Companies of Gonzales, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the CSS Chicora.

Repowered in 2006, she is driven by two, Cummins KTA19-M3 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
