Built in 1945 by Consolidated Shipbuilding of Morris Heights, New York (hull #3227) as the YTB-540 (Quileute) for the United States Navy.
Her keel was laid down on February 17th, 1945. The tug was launched on May 14th, 1945. And, she was delivered to the United States Navy on October 16th, 1945 where she was allocated to Third Naval District at the New York Navy Yard.
In 1962, the United States Navy redesignated the tug as YTM-540 (Quileute).
In 1973, she was placed out of service and struck from the Naval record.
In 1974, the tug was sold and was transferred to Maine Maritime Academy of Castine, Maine. Where the tug was used for parts.
In 1976, the tug was acquired by the Calumet Marine Towing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. Where she was renamed as the Lenny B. And, was converted to a twin screw configuration by Peterson Builders Incorporated of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
In 1992, she was acquired by Westar Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Orion.
In 2024, the tug was scrapped at San Francisco, California.
She was powered by two, EMD 12-645-E6 diesel engines. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
