MORMON ISLAND (1975)

Built in 1975 by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #12) as the Royal Sonesta for the Royal Marine Transportation Company of Harvey, Louisiana.

The tugboat was later acquired by the Eaton Tugboat Company of San Pedro, California. Where she was renamed as the Mormon Island.

The Eaton Tugboat Company later renamed the tug as as the Golden Eagle.

In 2004, she was acquired by Westar Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Solana.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA38-M1 diesel engines. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
