Built in 1971, by St. Louis Ship of St. Louis, Missouri (hull #2789) as the Leslie Ann for the Upper Mississippi Towing Corporation of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In 1974, the Upper Mississippi Towing Company renamed the tug as the Steve T.

In 1977, the Upper Mississippi Towing Company became the Riverway Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In 1977, she was leased to Ole Man River Towing Incorporated of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1978, the tug was leased to the C and G Operating Company Incorporated of Oak Grove, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

In 1980, she was leased to the Lawson and Lawson Towing Company Incorporated of Wynne, Arkansas.

In 2005, the tug was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2008, the Ingram Barge Company renamed the tug as the John R. Ingram.

Powered by three, GM 16-645E7B diesel engines. With Lufkin reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.34:1. Turning three, fixed pitch propellers mounted in kort nozzles. She is a triple screw tug, rated at 9,180 horsepower.
