Built in 1964, by the Nashville Bridge Company of Nashville, Tennessee (hull #1663) as the Ann King for Mid-America Transportation Company of St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1984, the Mid America Transportation Company renamed the tug as the Junko Hartman.

In 1990, the tug was acquired by the Mid-South Towing Company of Metropolis, Illinois. Where she was renamed as the Martha Mac.

In 2002, the Mid-South Towing Company became the TECO Barge Line Incorporated Metropolis, Illinois. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2012, she was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by the Whitetail Vessel Company LLC. of Paducah, Kentucky. Where she was renamed as the Rachel Mayes, and was operated by the Tennessee Valley Towing Company of Paducah, Kentucky.

Powered by two, GM 16-567C diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.96:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 3,200 horsepower.
