Built in 1970, by Merlin J. Boudreaux Jr. of Houma, Louisiana as the Elaine B. for the Boudreaux Towing Company of Houma, Louisiana.

In 1981 the tug was acquired by Freddie J. Dufriend of Burras, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1982, the tug was acquired by J and E Service Incorporated of Biloxi, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Monica Lee.

In 2002, she was acquired by New England Harbor Services Incorporated of Chatham, Massachusetts. Where the tug was renamed as the Capt. Shorty.

In 2019, the tug was converted to a "live aboard" recreational tug and was removed from commercial service.

She is a single screw tug, rated at 300 horsepower.
