Built in 1982, by United Shipbuilding and Repair Incorporated of Vinton, Louisiana (hull #26) as the Gary Paul for United Shipbuilding and and Repair Incorporated of Vinton, Louisiana. And, was operated by Louisiana Marine Transportation Incorporated of Vinton, Louisiana.

In 1985, the tug was acquired by Sneed's Shipbuilding Incorporated of Orange, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 1988, she was acquired by Higman Barge Lines Incorporated of Orange, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Preston N. Shuford.

In 2007, the tug was leased to Mohawk Transportation LLC. of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Jan Michael.

In 2009, she was returned to Higman Barge Lines Incorporated of Orange, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Snipe.

In 2014, the tug was acquired by the Harbor Docking and Towing Company of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Sam.

In 2019, the Harbor Docking and Towing Company renamed the tug as the Lindy.

In 2022, she was acquired by Modern American Recycling Services Incorporated of Gibson, Louisiana. Where tug tug was renamed as the M.A.R.S Odin.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.10:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,350 horsepower.
