Built in 1971, by Alexander Shipyard Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #1056) as the El Jaguar Grande for Tidewater Marine Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1971, the tug was acquired by the Micoperi Group Limited of Ravenna, Italy. Where she was renamed as the Punta Penna.

In 1978, the tug was chartered out. Where she was renamed as the Ortona.

In 1982, the tug was transferred to another charter client. Where she was renamed as the Trinacria Undicesimo.

In 1983, she was returned to the Micoperi Group Limited of Ravenna, Italy. Where she was renamed as the Punta Penna.

She was powered by two, Caterpillar D398B diesel engines. Turning two, cast steel, fixed pitch propellers. For a rated 1,700 horsepower.
